ClimeFish partners at VietFish 2018 Conference

Consortium members from UiT – The Arctic University of Norway (Norway), Syntesa (Denmark), and NTU – Nha Trang University (Vietnam) attended the VIETFISH 2018 conference ‘European Seafood Industry: Competitive and Market Potentials’ in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The conference was organized by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
A ClimeFish session with the topic ‘Climate change impacts on fisheries sectors’ was held on the 2nd day of the conference. At this session, Dr. Thuy Pham from UiT presented ClimeFish results and its ongoing activities, including projected impacts of climate change on marine and freshwater production, the associated risks and opportunities, and climate adaptation plans.Dr. Ngoc Quach from NTU presented, in Vietnam context, the possible impacts of climate change on fisheries and aquaculture, solutions for mitigation and strategies for adaptation in the future. The discussion was then focused on lessons learned for EU countries and Vietnam.
The session attracted different stakeholders including industry partners, policy makers, and representatives of non-profit organizations. The session was particular interest of media and published on several Vietnamese newspapers.
